Whether you choose to eat in the town itself or by the sea, you will enjoy great authentic Spanish cuisine. The town is full of great bars. My favourite is Bar Morillo just below the church, very traditional, locals hangout. Taberna Flamenca Caragato on Plaza de la Paz, has live music Saturday nights in season, but remember Spain is late. Taberna Callejon Oscuro is the new bohemian hangout. The bar and restaurant at the Hotel Casa de Califa on the square is great looking and atmospheric with a garden. The Morroccan food is good, but you need to book. They also have a rooftop bar next to the restaurant called la Teteria and a café for tapas on the Corredero, Taperia del Califa. There is a wonderful garden bar El Jardin next door to the convent which is in our street; this has a spectacular view, but is only open in the summer months. A good place to eat, open all seasons is La Garimba on the main square – tapas modern style. There’s a really good pizza place La Posta on Calle Juan Bueno and even sushi in the old market which has a food hall.
